This would happen to me… during my trip to Hawaii, I was extremely sick – downing tylenol every 4 hours.
No matter — I was able to make a day trip out of it all as I drove through the beautiful beaches, plantations, and shoreline of Oʻahu.
This trip was during late January.
Windows down, ocean breezes, and blasting the limited range of Hawaiian radio stations that played overplayed pop tunes.
I won’t complain.
A few details about this trip and the locations of the images:
Koko Head Crater : It was a mad dash to be able to see sunrise and I did the hike in about an hour.
Splendid views – especially of the Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve.
Some random guy spotted me taking photos so I pointed my camera toward his direction and… you’ll see…
Makapu’u Point : A bit of a longer trek but completely worth it. It was longer than an hour and I was severely dehydrated. Amazing view of the ocean and a cute lighthouse at the end.
North Shore (not photographed) : I was told that there are nice waves for surfers there. Unfortunately the tides were too strong that they closed everything down.
Kailua / Lanikai Beach (not photographed) : Empty, crystal clear beaches. When I think Hawaii, this is it. A huge stark contrast to Waikiki.
Waikiki : Touristy and felt like a mini-vegas. Seems like a good night life, but that wasn’t the purpose of my trip 😉
I’ll be back soon Hawaii. I promise — at least to visit the other islands.
