Wedding: Dock 5 at Union Market in Washington, DC

Dock 5 at Union Market is a rare find in D.C. It is the perfect venue for a wedding with a industrial feel in the heart of Washington DC.

With more than 12,000 square feet of warehouse space, it provides the ultimate blank canvas with high ceilings and room to grow to the outdoors.
Let’s just say, there is a lot of dancing space and room for your guests to breath, hang out, socialize, and be outside if they want to enjoy a drink.

About the Couple – Written by:

Ryan and Janelle met through mutual friends at a popular DC bar, Iron Horse, in 2013.
They thought the meeting was a coincidence however their friends had something else in mind.
They enjoyed each other’s company so much they closed down the bar that night, however Janelle jumped in a cab before Ryan could get her number… thankfully their friends were willing to make the connection again!

They became “official” a few months later when Ryan, too nervous to be direct, told Janelle that he was going home for Easter and asked if he “should tell his mother he had a girlfriend”.

Their relationship grew stronger and stronger throughout the years with their Groupon brunches, trips together, and numerous wedding weekends.
Ryan proposed to Janelle over breakfast at their dining room table and surprised her with a trip to Paris that night to celebrate.

On the wedding day, Janelle and Ryan decided to rent a trolley to take their wedding party to all of the meaningful monuments in DC.

During the ceremony, the couple had prepared a wine box containing a bottle of wine and a love letter from eachother.
The letters expressed their feelings as they begin their marriage, the good qualities they find in each other, and their aspirations for the future.
The letters were sealed in individual envelopes and each has not seen what the other has written.

They shared that if they felt their marriage were to face hardships, they will open the box, sit and drink the wine together, then read the letters they wrote to one another to remind them of the love that brought them together and the promises they made to each other.

They know that marriage is hard.
They know it is a lot of work.
They mean every word that they have said, and they do not take lightly the words “as long as we both shall live.”
